here are some facts on SMA. one of the meanest things ever:

-SMA stands for SPINAL MUSCULAR ATROPHY.


-there are three types.


-over 25,000 americans have SMA.


-it's the leading genetic killer of babies and toddlers.


-SMA doesn't effect the brain, in fact kids with SMA are really smart and sociable.


-we ALMOST have the cure.


-it's stolen the lives of too many kids, really precious ones too.

-1 in 40 people have the SMA gene.


-SMA takes away the ability to walk, move limbs, sit up, swallow, cough, eat, and breathe. (depending on the type and severity)


-of children diagnosed with SMA before age two, 50% probably won't see their second birthday.
